Vital Record Information

Birth Records
Stokes County birth records were first registered in the Register of Deeds Office beginning in 1913. The original birth records are available in our office. Our birth records also contain delayed births. If your birth certificate has incorrect information on it and you would like to amend it, please contact our office or contact Vital Records in Raleigh, NC. Birth records for those who have been adopted can only be obtained from Vital Records in Raleigh, NC. Marriage Records
Stokes County marriage licenses were first issued and registered in the Register of Deeds Office beginning in 1868. Prior to marriage licenses, the county issued marriage bonds. Marriage bonds are no longer available in our office. If you are wanting to look at marriage records in our office prior to 1959, we request that you ask for assistance in doing so. Death Records
Stokes County death records were first registered in the Register of Deeds Office beginning in 1913. The original death records are available in our office.

  • legal representative (proof required)

  • grandparent/step-grandparent
