What Is WIC?

WIC is The Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and children funded through the US Department of Agriculture. WIC Serves to safeguard the health of low-income pregnant, post-partum, and breastfeeding women, infants and children up to the age of five.

WIC Benefits Include: 

  • Access to nutritious foods rich in key nutrients such as protein, iron, calcium, fiber and vitamins.
  • Nutrition education to promote healthy habits and healthy families.
  • Breastfeeding support and encouragement to moms- to be; new moms, and families every step of the way.
  • Community and Healthcare Referrals.


Who is Eligible?
WIC serves pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women, infants, and children 1-5 years of age.  Participants must also:

  • Live in North Carolina
  • Meet WIC federal income guidelines
  • Have health or nutrition risk factor*

* Nutrition/health risk are determined during the nutrition assessment completed at the time of  your appointment.

Please contact your Local WIC Agency to schedule your appointment to determine program eligibility.  Walk-Ins will be accommodated if appointment times permit.
